Fox Theater Boulder, CO 10/08/09 – Fresh Breath Committee Official Album Release of CPR – Featuring Masta Ace.

On a cold crisp night in Boulder, locals and others from around the state gathered at the Fox Theater to draw in a breath of fresh air. In a Hip-Hop culture where new music drops like snowflakes amidst a Colorado blizzard, it is difficult for any music connoisseur to keep up. So rarely is there a group that comes together and stands up for the culture in a way that exudes true unlimited dedication, respect for those who came before and does it in a new and refreshing way. That is exactly what the Fresh Breath Committee did on Thursday night.

The Fresh Breath Committee represents themselves as a group of artists willing to dedicate everything to the Hip-Hop culture. Their new album, CPR , brings with it a willingness to express what Hip-Hop means to them, and their adherence to what brought them all together. Amazing DJ’ing coupled with a fierce assembly of MC’s, live instruments and flamboyant singing emanated from the stage and carried the crowd into a cheering frenzy. In a supreme effort to pay homage to the greats that started Hip Hop culture, FBC welcomed legend and longtime Hip Hop head Masta Ace to the stage.

Staying true to form FBC sported a wide-range of GRO Project clothing throughout their sets. As the lyrics jumped off stage to the screaming fans, the GRO project clothing donned by the artists subtly stood out against the multicolored lights of the stage. Ace exploded on stage, bearing a special edition James Brown tee in gold foil. Masta Ace’s reverence to Hip-Hop was on full display as he rocked song after song with FBC, including his own set with DJ Skip Ripkin.

Colorado Hip-Hop has tasted the true flava of its own local artists and wants more. From the head banging lyrics to melodic tracks of the DJ, people who attend shows of this magnitude are pleasantly fulfilled with a feeling of excitement and more importantly involvement. In the words of the Godfather of soul, “Get up, Get Into It, Get Involved.”
